We were going to stay put, but since my sister had her baby early, the kids and I are going to drive to Nashville with my mom. We're leaving J behind, because he only has Thursday off. I sort of feel bad about it, but I think he'll enjoy some kid free time too.

Driving to Denver. Leaving wed afternoon and driving halfway. Then we will do the whole drive home Sunday. SIL lives there. MIL and FIL will be staying with her. They tried to tell us we could stay on blow up mattresses in the living room (with our three year old). I said we will be staying at a hotel. I'd go psycho on them if we were all staying in her two bedroom apt for three nights with bad sleep and all on top of one another.

We are hosting an international resident doing an away rotation so going to try to do some traditional T-giving stuff to give them the USA experience...although, I should just send 'em off with my friends for Black Friday. LOL - nah, I would not wish that on them, AND we are inviting the spouse whose resident wife is on call. I am not a fan of turkey and the usual t-giving foods so we have the usual pick a country and teach yourself to make that food with a small nod to traditional USA t-giving fare.
Finally - we are finished with training! Hello real world!!

We are getting on a plane Weds evening (like the rest of America and their dog): flying to SAT. Although, I️ can’t complain: good Mexican food, and a sage Redhead will keep things light. 😎

Per our tradition for the past 10 years, my in laws are driving up to spend Thanksgiving with my parents and siblings. Except DH is on call, but he isn't the main attraction anyway

We are hosting my dad and stepmom. Obviously they won’t fly in before the day of the holiday bc my stepmom can’t sit around and be with family ever. So they arrive at 2 something.

They aren’t staying with us. Being with the children is too much. So they’ll be in and out and doing their own thing. Usually they show up around 11:30 AM, just in time to decide where to go out to eat without us because the kids need to nap.

I'm a big fan of the oven bags. Make sure your turkey is fully defrosted, and pull both bags out (gravy and giblets). Coat the bag with flour. Put some onion, apple, and poultry herbs inside the turkey and the bag, season with salt, pepper, and paprika, and cook for as long as the bag says.

If you don't have a fancy oven I suggest investing in a remote thermometer. If you buy a decent piece of meat it's all about cooking to the correct temperature. This is what I use

This is the first major holiday DH and I will spend away from each other. We made the decision back in June when it became clear we could spend TG together or he could attend his cousin's engagement party in December. We were fine with it until like, yesterday, and now we're getting sad. I'm spending a lot week with my family. Same thing, I was excited to go but now I'm remembering how emotionally charged family visits are. Wish I'd kept it to a long weekend.

We don’t have any plans. I suppose I’ll cook something kinda time consuming like lasagna and we’ll hang out and watch movies. Dh was supposed to be on call but he isn’t according to the schedule. There is a craft fair the next day that I’m looking forward to going to.

Yes this is the one we always use. I will say that if you’re cooking a local, free range turkey who’s name is Fred like we do (because we are nuts), those birds are leaner and they cook faster and require less brine.
