  • Dads Married to Doctors (DMD)

Hello Male Spouses! In my effort to attract more male spouses to our local medical alliance, I met with a male spouse that introduced me to Dad Married to Doctors http://dmdlifestyle.com/ What a great resource!! He is actually traveling to Vegas next week for one of their meet-ups! Anyone here going or already involved with this group?

Side note for the ladies reading this...I found interesting (as a female spouse) that the dads are not necessarily taking the kiddos. I know when we (IMSN) plan our annual get together, we each take into account our physician spouse's schedule, the school schedule, the pre school kiddo's schedule, the family visit/in laws schedule, etc, etc. From this male spouse perspective, I got that this opportunity to network and provide/get support is treated as a priority. He said Dads are bringing the nannies/baby sitters!

Yes, I also provided our site info.
Finally - we are finished with training! Hello real world!!

What a great resource! Super interesting how the thought processes about planning vary, too.

Yes, there are lots of DMDs who do attend an annual DMD retreat (~50), but many more who are just online (~3000). There is a small amount of targeted advertising - generally from a vetted set of self-employed people who also qualify as DMDers -- but otherwise it is a great resource for men who are/were dads and are/were married to a physician. It doesn't presume that their world revolves around their spouse's profession, nor does it presume that their experience is similar to that of women married to physicians.

PM me if you are interested in joining DMD too; I should be able to speed up the vetting process.

            Is it an international group?

Yes. Most are American. At least 200 are Canadian.Don't know about the rest. I'm in both the main group and the Canadian DMD subgroup.

Couldn't agree more. I've been in DMD for a few years. Curtis and the other admins have done a great job creating a constructive environment within a closed Facebook community (e.g. trolls and researchers not welcome).
