Professional Clothes in Hot Weather?

Seriously what do people wear in the summer? We have these interviews coming up and I was hoping to find some new professional clothes that 1) hide my back tattoo 2) don't involve wearing a sweater, because hello, summer 3) are perhaps flowy? But oh the ruffles! No ruffles! I just spent all morning scouring Nordstrom, Anne Taylor, Banana, Loft, and this is the only thing I found, which at best could be worn for a daytime activity. Certainly not a dinner.

I ordered that wrap dress from Reformation and it totally swallowed me. I was hoping to find something similar in a petite section today but no luck.

So, it has to e a dress (flowy)?

I am wearing a linen blend suit with a silk shell. I take off the jacket between buildings (outside). Suit is from AT and shell is from Talbots. If you want flowy no ruffle dresses, I'd look at maxi/tea length. Talbots had a few and right now having 50% off their lowest price of summer clothes. AT & Talbots both fit my short errr petite stature. Yesterday, I had unlined linen pants and a linen shirt. Also check out Karina Dresses...although whats supposed to be a knee length sometimes fits me as a midi.

Linen blend for sure: if you get some sort of anti-wrinkle, it also helps.

I'm really not a dress person anymore but I have a giant tattoo that spans the width of my shoulders. I have plenty of blouse / slacks combinations but I'd have to wear a jacket or sweater all evening. Get weird looks if it's 90 degrees.

I have this in both red and black but I'm not sure if that's professional enough for an interview dinner?

Professional Clothes in Hot Weather?

I like the Maggy London dress. This is for your husband's interview, not a job for you, correct? If so, I don't think you have to overthink it. As long as you don't show up in something totally crazy (which obviously you wouldn't), I think it's fine.

I wear dresses almost all the time, occasionally white skinny jeans with a sleeveless blouse. But mostly dresses. Mine are generally from Loft, occasionally Ann Taylor, Banana Republic (usually the outlet), J. Crew, J. Jill, and Old Navy. And several from Stitch Fix. I haven't bought much in the last year though.

J. Jill has some online that might be appropriate - some are definitely matronly, but some are not. I've found that a lot of them are actually really flattering on, and they come in petite if you need shorter lengths.

It looks like Gap has a few that aren't terrible either.

Dude - no tattoo, but I just can't wear business attire in super hot weather either. I fing hate it. No jackets. What about a cap sleeve? (They look awful on me, but I'm just trying to visually cover the tattoo- which honestly, meh. Like so many people have. Idk. I don't have any, but I'm one of like 10 people in the world. You aren't alone!).

When I was practicing law in Miami, I wore a lot of knit tops or sleeveless tops from AT with slacks or skirts, dresses, especially wrap dresses. The most important aspect was tailoring. Loose or drapy fabrics can look sloppy so I'd go for well-tailored clothing in breathable fabrics. Also, no stockings and I'd wear open toed shoes. If this was professional enough to pass muster in a conservative law firm, it would be fine for your husband's interview

These blouses are both awful. The first is too informal. The second is too fussy.

I like to get tall stuff from asos and banana so I'm assuming they have petite. I also like white house black market. Shockingly I've found some staples on overstock. Honestly in the summer I typically just throw professionalism to the wind and try to wear something that transitions easily from sweaty to air conditioning.

I like sleeveless top + slacks or skirt + cardigan for AC assault. I think open toed shoes are totally acceptable in the summer time. If you have a dress style you love, that would be great too!

I wear short sleeve or sleeveless blouses - mostly from TJ Maxx - with ankle length black slacks and a dressy, lightweight cardigan for work most of the year. Then remove the cardigan when I go outside. I don't see any reason you can't wear a short sleeve blouse though? Try a TJ Maxx or Marshalls, at least there are more options to check out all in one place than at an Ann Taylor, Banana Republic, etc.
