We have 3 kids in college and 2 in private school. Funds are limited. A job at a place like Target would allow me to work 8-3 and be home for dinner/homework etc while still contributing what I can.

Have you thought about putting your skills out there and using care.com to find yourself a job as a caregiver. You might be able to find a part time job that pays better than Target and actually use your skills. I get if you are burnt out helping others. I just wanted to throw that idea out there. I can't remember if you already tried/thought of it.

That's true, there may be autism families that would really love your experience to work with their kids part time.

This is an excellent idea! Relationship dynamics aside, childcare is such a challenge. I hope you can find a solution, one way or another, that gives you peace.

I think that's a brilliant idea, but I agree with Thirteen that this paternal/punishment thing is not healthy for your relationship. You did want to quit school, and he told you not to, so you finished. Now that you're done, he's putting the logistics burden on you. You could have just as easily made him handle the child care during residency so you could complete your education then, but you made the best decision for your family. Imagine telling him back then "Medicine was your choice, not mine, so I'm going back to school now. Just figure it out, Thomas. I'll be home after my classes are over at 6:00 p.m." I know you love each other, and I am not trying to attack your marriage, but he needs to realize that you have sacrificed your career for his, so this is absolutely his responsibility as well.

I agree ladymoreta The dynamic is unfair. We had a big talk this weekend about how I wanted to quit during school and he pushed me forward. I also reminded him that he spent many years being dissatisfied at having a sah wife. He did see the light. I also presented that if I can get through this school year, I'll be able to get my LPCC and move on hopefully. It's a hard choice. He's offered to support me going back to school, but I just laugh. No way. I'm done. I'm currently trying to find a ride home for Aidan and Zoe. I've contacted every middle school parent, 2 people on care.com, and a reliable teenager I know who helped last year but is going off to college. She's asking around. Responses? 1. I should have my kids take the bus. Duh. The bus stop is too far for them to walk home. 2. $25/hr with 2 hour minimum. No, I'm not paying $800/mo for transportation. 3. Other person has full-time job now.

It's frustrating. I can't believe that no Sartell parents were interested in carpooling. Maybe I can.

I just saw that - sorry, catching up in the opposite order! I'm so glad you talked about it with him. Sucky options... I really hope once people's schedules even out someone can help.

Wait how do they live too far from the bus route? Isn't the point of the bus to get you close for your house? What about bikes? Uber?

Keep contacting people on care.com. I usually have to post an ad to get anything. Just randomly finding people doesn't work. They have to be looking.
