1. Hanging head in shame - but will not change this behavior. Totally not "green", but if I'm in a hurry and need to get the kitchen under control, , who says you have to completely unload the dishwasher? I unload it enough to get the pile in the sink in, and rewash everything!!!

      2. Company / unexpected / short notice visitor and one room is impossibly messy - put ladder and a tool box in the middle of the room. Looks like it is supposed to be in disarray!!!!!!

I'm pretty sure these are not the ideas you were looking for.

Simmer an onion on the stove and clean the table by the front door with lemon furniture polish!!!! Smells like cooking and cleaning. My mother used to do that.

Dip your earring posts in antibiotic ointment before putting them in your ears. Prevents infection and makes it easier to slide the posts through the piercing.

MrsK sometimes your post give me glimpses of me. We should get together and have an OCD-organize/schedule/plan-championship battle. LOL.

I read your list and I thought "I do all those things" (except run -- but I keep my swim gear in the car)

Also, we have a "leaving spot". So whenever you're ready, you sit in the leaving spot and DO NOT MOVE. otherwise, someone is always wandering around while I do hair or sunscreen. So I do whichever girl first and then send them to get their stuff (coats, backpacks, sun hats) and sit in the leaving spot. If they get up, I say "leaving spot" and they return there. They know we can't leave until everyone is ready in the spot.

Omg. Never once thought of #1. So insanely funny. Number 2 is also brilliant (would cause injuries in current life phase, but will file away!).

You're in the hardest time when they're mobile but have literally NO brains/control. I promise you'll get glimpses of self control soon and you can build on them.

Seriously even though it seems harder, try to teach them early instead of doing stuff for them. Thankfully my nanny was totally in alignment with me on leaving spot AND no one gets out a toy unless they put the current one away. We have a small house...that's the only way this works.
