  • Ran the 3 today -- gusting wind and a high pollen count made things challenging with the stroller.
Some Zyrtec later, and I feel better!

I'm annoyed with the 5k class I'm doing. It's Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7 and always takes over an hour. We spend more time doing core work and stretching than we do running. I don't have time for this. I signed up thinking it would be like the one I took a few years ago where you showed up, stretched for 2 min and just ran!!!

Ugh no :/. And DD is back to freaking out in the gym childcare, particularly when it's a male caretaker. I only got 15 min on the elliptical today. Le sigh.

        • Aw, man! That sucks all around.

I am still feeling pretty crummy, so my walk was more of a trudge and not really exercise (averaged 18 minutes per mile instead of 14-ish!) But I got out there and I think the fresh air did my cold good.

Nice! I only hold one course record that has been run by more than one person, LOL, but it is a real sense of accomplishment! That's also a sweet 400m PR.

Is that Strava? My husband loves it. I use run keeper but I'm considering switching

I'm almost down 10 lbs. I gained the week I started Back to work and now I'm losing again.

Running has gotten so much better. I'm still doing run walk intervals and will for awhile but I'm working on increasing distance and speed on Sundays when I get to run for an hour. Between the 5k class and orange theory, I'm doing 12-13 miles a week. I'm trying to work out 4-5 days a week, which is challenging with our schedules right now, but so far we are making it work.

I can't wait for the chunk to get big enough for the jogging stroller. It's gonna be great!

My official goals for this year:

                Spring 5k

Too hot to handle 10k in July (it earns the name here in Texas)

Sprint tri with DH in Oct

                Half in Dec

Depending on how all that goes and where we are in life, I'm beginning to mull a marathon next spring. I'm pretty sure it is only going to happen once, so I want to do it right.

                • Great progress ST! Yes it's Strava. Good fun. I think I was just first to upload race to Strava, hence course record. Lots of faster runners in the race but amazing how a little crown gives you a buzz!

                  • If you join Strava I'd love to friend you! I'm at about 16-20 miles a week with walking, but I am planning to start running again this week -- I'll get up to about the same mileage but with running, then maybe start a 5k training plan, and then a 10k or half marathon plan aimed at being ready for a race in August.

                    • I'll play around with it!

I'm also going to try out Zwift--DH is a fan.

                              You're incredible!

In nyc there at TONS of segments people have created. The only time I have ever been a contender for segments is when I take my bike upstate to my grandma's cottage (same area I've done my triathlons in) gorgeous and hilly and low traffic!

                              • BTW all, in addition to my 3rd year in a row of doing the Brooklyn half (this time with my little bro), finally came to the decision to do the half ironwoman for the 3rd time! This time around my older bro's gf decided to do it too! My older bro and I were daydreaming about it since we were young teenagers. The majority of the reason I even enjoy the tri is knowing I'll have 56 miles of fantastic, green, unpolluted, wide open spaces with views of 2 lakes, vineyards, Amish farms, state parks, etc. It's also amazing to realize a childhood dream together as siblings. And I love my brother's gf. She cheered us on last year, and her dad raced it with us. Anyhow, I'm super excited. Hubby is also supportive, even when I came home late this week bc I stopped at the pool to swim. Seriously working on becoming an extra morning person so I can get up with hubby in the morning and get in my workouts before work!
Is anyone on here a morning person (like 5, 6am morning person?) I really need a buddy!
