Whee! You're so close! When the bank security questions ask, "What was the name of your first childhood pet," you know what your kids will answer. D'aw.

Heck, I was going to email DH her picture tonight while he's at work so we can talk tonight when he gets home. But...the breeder sent me her purchase contract and it's nuts. It's super restrictive, doesn't protect me as the buyer, and has all kinds of weird faux legalese in it. I might be able to negotiate something better but it tarnishes the excitement a little. We'll see.

Four more days! DH asked to see he picture each night, He's pretty excited too. I'm messaging the breeder to find out what food she's been giving her. My friend said to mix the old and new food and slowly shift the ratio to avoid diarrhea. She's been up with diarrhea for two nights with their puppy. Yuck.

Yep, definitely. About 10% per day should be slow enough. What are you planning to feed? Is puppy food recommended in Shelties or do you need to go straight to all-stages food to avoid excess protein?

This pup fell through too, she was already 10 weeks old and if I had a month to chat with the breeder and visit her it would have been PERFECT but I just don't think that I could have come to terms with breeder and hubby both before she was past the socialization window and into the teething stage. Meh. We're back to square one, but I'm feeling a lot more serious about the search now (and about getting hubby on the same page BEFORE I go losing my heart to a fluffy face!)

Our pups were 9 month old when we rescued them. I always thought I'd get a puppy as my first real dog (as in, not living with my parents) but have to say that getting a young adult was awesome. We knew his temperament, size and quirks right from the start, plus he came from a prison training program so he had his canine good citizen certification and was only $45. He's still my perfect little guy.

Puppy breath is infectious though and tempting every time we see the adoptions at petsmart on the weekend. Fortunately I know a third dog would be too much for this bus. Excited for you guys!

Ha,ha. I always say that they worm their way into your heart...like heartworms. . Next thing you know, the off limits couch is theirs. Yup, I am wrapped around tbeir furry toes.

She's been a dream. She's adjusted so well and she was socialized well by the breeder for kids. The breeder has four grandkids (same ages) that come over after school each day. She also took the pups to visit the 1st and 3rd grade classrooms last Friday. She has a balanced temperament. She's confident and not skiddish, but not over bold or hyper either. She slept through the first night without having to empty her bladder. She went like 10 hours. Maybe she was dehydrated, but I'm leaving water out for her. She cried in the pack-n-play. She napped in DD10's bed while she read and we ended up putting her bed in our bed overnight. She likes to curl up against the side of her bed. I'm glad we got one with sides. She seems a like disoriented a few times at night as she wiggled out, but as soon as I put her in her bed she went straight down. The morning she voided within three minutes after taking her out. The hardest part has been managing the four kids. Everyone wants to play with her at once. No one if happy unless they are holding her. She's been a trouper about it though. I'm so happy we waited until this stage so we focus on her a bit more, and I'm so happy we got her. I'm looking foward to the kids being in school tomorrow so I can get some good pics of her to share. Tomorrow I'm introducing her to the harness and I will put her in her crate for short periods while I'm here to release her and reward her. She's very sad when she's not with someone though.
