  • 2015 March Encouragement Thread

I did zip yesterday after my 5 mile walk on Sunday -- Today? 1:20 of yoga on YogaGlo. The second class I did featured the rock climbing teacher, and his transitions are fast! Yeeshk.
11 pounds to goal weight #1, 20lbs. lost. I bought a nursing-friendly swimsuit yesterday, and it was the best body positive swimsuit purchase I've ever had. I may not be where I want to, but I feel confident and attractive.

I'm still at it, which is saying something for me. It's going to be a longggg road but cutting calories isn't that hard anymore and I'm not nearly as attracted to sweets.

I did sleep through my alarm for the classes I was going to take yesterday and today and now I am regretting it and the lost money :/

I'm trying to balance my desire to work out 4-5 days a week, with the reality of thtee active children. I'm pretty solid on 3 days a week, but getting the weekend workouts in with kids activities is really hard!

        Clothes fit for Hawaii!!!

End of March, I'm reassessing my goals and what I want future me to look like and how much effort I want to put into maintenance.

Try to have fun with it. The workouts are killer, but I think you'll like the results.

I really enjoyed the one crossfit workout I did! That said, I can see how (at least the gym I went to) easy it would be to hurt yourself, if you aren't careful.

Did they make you do a long commitment? A friend was thinking of joining around here and the 6 month commitment turned him off

Awesome! Ask for modifications when needed, and make sure someone is constantly there to spot you and correct your form.
(She said, even though she's never crossfitted...)

Most decent CF gyms are good about harping on correct technique. That's part of the reason the classes are typically small -- so they can see everyone and there's no way to hide/cheat. They don't want anyone injured anymore than anyone wants to be injured.

Good gyms will also teach the modifications. With good form.

A 6 month commitment?! Fuck that. I've known some gyms that have done 6 month deals that are less expensive than month-to-month memberships, but requiring it is kind of assy.

Haven't weighed myself in almost a week since I'm on my period. I feel like I can tell by the way my wedding ring fits that nothing's really changed. I'll weigh in the next couple days and then buckle down to lose another couple pounds. Stable for a couple months after losing 5lbs, feel like my body is ready to shed a couple more.

Still going to Wednesday Spin. God damn it's brutal. Lets just say the guys in front of us are sponsored riders. They all bring in their shoes and spin until they look like they're about to pass out. Everyone's anxious for spring. Getting to 1-2 power yoga classes a week (+2x month lessons) but unfortunately I'm only getting to the gym only once or twice beyond that.

My calorie counting is meh. I've been ravenous this week so cut out my nightly glass or two of wine.

                      Good work, Thirteen, that's awesome!!
And Michele, I saw your gloves, you are DEFINITELY that chick jk you're awesome.

I went and lifted solo for an hour this morning. My shoulders are officially dead! I just did a short upper body workout, bench, incline flys, lat pull downs, bentover rows, overhead presses and lateral dumbell raises. I've gone up in weight in all exercises! (Yesterday my gym buddy and I did biceps and triceps and I did a kickboxing class that focused on shoulders and glutes.) Tomorrow is leg day.

I took some measurements Feb 8th and repeated them today Mar 5th. I've lost: 1.75 inches in my waist, 1 inch in my hips/ass, 1 inch around each thigh and 4 inches around my muffintop area! Apparently I carry excess fat in a spare tire around my waist. I've lost 6.5 pounds in that time. I can now fit into all my summer clothes and I am ready for Hawaii!

And I think I've figured out my goals for April through September. I want to ruminate on them for a few more days though.

I'm down over 5 pounds and 2% lower bodyfat since I dropped my gym membership last summer, and I feel great! No workouts, no calorie counting, just Fitbit and VB6. I'm signed up for a 5k in a little over a week and my goal time is a 10 minute mile (it's got a decent hill in the course.) DH bought me a new Garmin GPS and I'm looking forward to getting fitter and faster this spring and summer.
