  • How are you? Holiday count down version

Where are you at with the holidays and how are you hanging in there? This is that crazy, stressful time of year where we could all use a boost!

Things are rockin' along here. We finally go our artificial tree (boo) yesterday and I'm planning on decorating it with the kids tonight if I ever get the laundry done.
I have most of the wrapping done. I'm just waiting on some final gifts to be delivered from Amazon. I can wrap those quickly.
This year, I even have the stockings all stuffed in my closet. I got crazy organized somehow.

I pick my mom up from the airport on Tuesday and then the holidays get real for us.

I have no idea what I'll cook for Xmas dinner.....I'm still figuring that one out.

All in all things are running surprisingly smoothly over here. I've never in my entire life as a mom been this organized. Holy buckets!

We've had a lot of dreary, gray days and I'm not a fan of those. They leave me with the bahumbugs ..... but beyond that .... well, HO HO HO

I have more shit to do than I can even deal with. Ugh. Making the list was daunting.

We decided to skip Christmas this year and just spend all day in pjs watching holiday movies so no worries here. Just a bunch of work stuff to get out of the way before then which is a drag.

Kind of feeling this too. Two family members down with the flu, one is my husband. A few more gifts to get. Nothing wrapped. No tree yet. DH is working Christmas Eve and on call this weekend and next. I'm not sure how that happened, since he's considered "off" this holiday. Baking cookies while the sick kid watches Christmas movies. I have to work Monday and Tuesday.

          Denial. Total.

At least I have my college kid home, so all is well.

Pretty good here. I think we are all set except for deciding what we are eating on xmas. O has the flu, which I hope neither of us gets.

Hopng to chill and relax tomorrow. Getting through the past week at school was painful. We have a family Christmas to attend Tuesday afternoon, and are hosting my (long divorced) parents and sister on Christmas Day. DH is on call Monday (in-house), Wednesday, and Thursday. We leave Friday for the 10 hour drive to see DH's parents in KS. We will drive home on the 30th. DS #2 is flying separately because he has a swim meet and some swim practices he can't miss. I am planning *nothing* for after we get back from KS. I need some downtime BAD.

Not awesome DH did a 24 hour shift yesterday and does another tomorrow, then again on Christmas Day. My son just left for 2 weeks to spend Christmas with my parents since we both work Christmas. I'm tired and emotional from the pregnancy. I just feel sad and drained right now. And DH is sick, so I have that to look forward to...

But the tree is up, at least. We did manage to do that this year. I'm not cooking a big meal at all, and no one to entertain. I think Christmas Eve I'll make latkes (DH is Jewish) and probably bake cookies for him to take to the nurses on his unit and the ER on Christmas.

Just hanging out next to my napping dobe. Life around the holidays are so much easier ever since I stopped fretting or doing stuff for my MIL and her husband. Unless DH asks, I will not buy gifts or make any arrangements. I had always done this and my ILs never appreciated the fact that if it was not for me, their son/stepson would do zilch, zero, nada. Soooo, two years ago I had enough. DH and I came to the understanding that his family was his job and mine was mine. This the second Christmas that I have done nothing...and it is niiiice. If MIL is upset...she can talk to her son about it.
Finally - we are finished with training! Hello real world!!

Shopping is done. Wrapping is not. We got the trees (real and fake) decorated yesterday. DH works all week including Christmas Day. I'm pissed because it is the second year in a row. My brother and his wife and my mom are coming on Tuesday.

E, what did you do? Were you skiing?!! Oh nooooo!! I'm so sorry

Our holiday is almost done. And it's been totally stress free. Just the way I like it. I don't buy gifts for anyone except my kids. I bake cookies to give out to a few people around here.
School break until January is my stress. Ugh.
