"Just For Today" megathread. Post little announcements, petty rants, small victories, and superficial confessions here for one day only. But please please please consider opening new threads too. We nosy chickens want to read all the details and talk everything over ad nauseum too.

Ds1 doesn't want to wear the costume he chose months ago. He also says he doesn't like school, parties, Halloween, or singing.

I just carry on when C acts like that. She's pulled that with dance and tumble gym both of which she loves. I just make her go and then afterward we talk about how we don't say we don't want to go places if we do.

          Isn't working yet. Sigh...

This hot/cold/hot/cold schitzo weather has caused the longest running headache of my life -- currently on day 12. Some consolation came yesterday though when I got my new macbook pro!! I'm already so in love with it and so much more productive. It's so freaking fast! And shiny!

It was successful, and on his own terms.
There's a whole thread I need to write about this... Short version, we are going to have sound sensitivity checked out.

I work a couple of blocks away from one of the med schools in town, and there are usually a couple of food trucks parked outside at lunch time. Since the weather today is pretty much perfect, and I actually had some cash on me, I decided I'd finally walk over and try one out instead of picking up my usual Einstein Bagel or Subway lunch. Oh my gosh, SO delicious. I need to start doing this way more often, weather permitting.

Turned off the lights for trick or treaters around 8:30. Most of the younger kids had already come by, and it was slowing down - the only ones still out at this point are probably too old to be trick or treating anyway. E slept through the last one, despite the doorbell and the screaming at the door. If they would just knock or even ring the doorbell and be quiet, it would be one thing, but I've had enough of rude kids screaming at my door for one night. I put two pieces in one kid's hand and he actually took his other hand and grabbed one more piece out of the bowl then ran away. I couldn't believe it!

I put a sign over a doorbell telling people not to ring it right when DS2 was born, and it's worked so well I just kept it up. Got tired of solicitors and the UPS guy waking us up during nap time.

I had a child (by himself) come to our door and he could not see the bowl of candy I held out. I think he was pretty close to blind. Anyway, I put the candy in his bag, he turned around and fell OFF our patio and into our yard. Where the hell were his parents?? I went out to help him (still no parents anywhere), and then helped him down the stairs to where he parents stood on their iPhones. And instead of asking him if everything was ok, they asked him if he'd gotten anything good. Arrggg! Turned off my lights after that.
