  • Did my kid just say that?

Sorry do we have a thread for the crazy stuff our kids say?
Just now P pointed at a stretch mark and said "owie." Nice.
And the uncircumsised 4-yr-old just said, "Look I can put my penis into my penis!" Indeed you can.

    Add your own!

My friend is going through a phase with her 4 year old. Every time they go into public, her daughter seems to find someone androgenous-looking, and loudly ask, "Mommy! Man, or woman? I can't tell!"

Luckily, Bean can't speak yet. Although, he has discovered (as of this morning) that he can make a raptor scream. It's a happy sound. Go figure!

The other day, we were all sitting in the living room watching TV when Sophie (age 2) decided she wanted a drink. I told her that I would get her one and she ran into the kitchen ahead of me. the next thing I hear is "I get cup myself, Momma." I pick up the pace, running into the kitchen to scoop her way from trying to climb onto the cupboard, muttering "You are a very scary child." All sweetness and light, she says, "I not scary, Momma. I not dinosaur."

Recently, Caleb has been on an engineering kick and is constantly daydreaming about things he will build.

Caleb: Mom, if you gave me 250 bajillion dollars, do you know what you would get?
Me: No, what (thinking: no freakin' way would I give any one 250 bajillion dollars, much less an 8 year old with the common sense of a turtle)
Caleb: A spaceship. But, I don't know if it would work. *shrug*

Apparently he has a future in the government.

While walking through Target our 2 year old spots a man inked from his neck to his toes and yells, "look, that man has stamps all over his body, that's gross!"

After I broke my coccyx the second time, DS kept telling people to be careful around me because my "butt broke". Thank you, son.

DS is the kid in our house who is constantly saying funny shit. So much so that the list is very, very long.

I haven't really had the chance to use it yet, since DS is still only saying one word at a time, but there's a "My Kid Said" app that I plan to use to keep track of stuff until I can write it down somewhere for posterity.

My DD is almost 10 now, but when she was 2 1/2 she said this gem:

We were driving across the top deck of the Fremont bridge (for our Portland peeps who know this bridge), trying to merge with traffic. A semi-truck cut us off and scared the crap out of me. DD, sitting in her carseat in the back, shouts out: "fucking truck!" We were in absolute hysterics. She used the word in the correct context and tone, at 2 1/2! That was also a sad day for me as I realized I needed to start watching my mouth around her. Oops!

There truly is an app for everything. I got to tell DH to download it, although we're not ready to use it yet either.

I was coloring my hair tonight after A was supposed to have already gone to bed. She came in and asked me what I was doing. I told her I was covering my greys and said don't worry you have about 30 years until you'll have to do this. She responded, I don't want grey hair, I want pink!

                              . These are funny!

Mine is more something that my daughter did versus said. My daughter LOVES dogs! Today a friend of mine brought her Bernese Mountain Dog over for a BBQ we hosted. My friend helped her feed the dog lettuce, and M started giving the dog the leaves of lettuce as if she was putting letters into a mailbox.
