I'd like to start a blog for my digital scrapbooking. I've looked at blogger, typepad, and wordpress. Blogger apparently is the easiest, but a lot of people have said that wordpress is better and more flexible once you're up & running. Right now this is just a personal hobby, but some of the better ones offer free downloads, or even sell stuff. If I ever get good enough to do anything with it, will I wish I hadn't gone with blogger?

I'm considering hiring someone to do the initial setup AND teach me the basics of how to add posts, change the background, etc. Then I figure I can learn as I go. I have a wordpress setup book, but the learning curve is just a little too steep.

How would you find someone to do the initial setup? Do any of you have web sites that were set up by someone else?

Maybe it's better just to jump into it with blogger, since right now this would just be to share pictures with family & friends, and it's likely that's all it will ever be. The problem is that if I ever do decide to switch, I will have wasted all that learning on a completely different platform.

BTW, this is an example of the kind of thing I'd be posting. I didn't know what digital scrapbooking was until a couple years ago. I just thought it sounded nerdy. It totally is! :) (eta - changed photo to one without key journaling)

Thanks in advance.

I hope this isn't too much rambling and this all makes sense.
2 years ago when we moved for my SO to attend Medical school, I was honest with my job and they knew we would only be there for 2 years. Later on in the year, my hours were cut, they told me they didn't want to build up my patient load to later have me move in 2 years. Not only that, but the other girls at work would "try" to make me feel better telling me that I don't need the money/hours because I was going to be married to a doctor. Not only were we in debt over our heads from my SO's 4 years undergrad, but I still had to pay back my student loans, plus the next 4 years of medical school debt.
So I applied for a full time position in another town, where no one knew my SO was in the medical field, and no one knew we would moving. So for the remaining of our 2 years, I lived a life where no one knew the real me. I worked lots of hours, my other employers didn't judge me for being a "doctors wife" no one assumed I was filthy rich, I felt like I was treated like a normal human being.

So now we have moved again. I will soon be going on interviews for a job. I don't want to lie, I just want to be the girl next door, a normal person, the one that you are friends with, the one that is treated fairly for being me and not judged for the the person I am with.

Have any of you experienced this?

The groupon for the Indianapolis area today is a Brazillian Blowout for $89. So I'm considering trying it because it seems like such a great deal!
Has anyone else had one? Does it really give you perfect hair right out of the shower? Do you use the BB maintenance products?

Whatever. So we were at The Friendly Spot on Friday (of course, that's where we are every Friday night) and their computer was on the fritz and my friend's husband said, "of course the computer is on the fritz. Mercury is in retrograde." Oh, ok.

He said that when Mercury is in retrograde electronics and other systems tend to just act funky- one minute they work, one minute they don't. Essentially stupid stuff happens for no reason.

Whatever, dude.

Except that today? The sound on the computer stopped working, a document that I was working on disappeared, my laptop shut itself off and my roof leaked- almost onto the incredibly expensive TV- but thankfully appears to have only splashed it a tiny bit. But I also found an inch of water in a three foot section in the attic.

Fun times.
Me- are you sure??
He is pretty sure he wants to do Surgery so I am a little scared on how many hours and years he will be putting in compared to other specialties. Do all specialties make you put in a crazy amount of hours/days/years? Or does it just depend on the program you are in?

I have a few friends that have talked their DH out of choosing a certain specialty, I don't want to be like that I want to be supportive of whatever he wants to do, but I am a little scared:(

I rode my fabulous new bike and it was so fun! and discovered that the Menger didn't have a bike rack. (they put it in with the checked luggage) Hilarious. All of my colleagues were 'shocked'. (even after I reminded them that I live about a mile from the hotel...)

Does anyone do pilates classes? I have been thinking about signing up. I never felt I was at the fitness level to try this until recently, as I have been working out my upper body a lot this summer. What are the beginner classes like? My understanding is that beginners start out on the mat. I've taken yoga before--is it similar to yoga?

In case you renters need anything to make you feel better...

We rented this house for a year to recover from our huge loss in Ohio. Finances are starting to balance out and DH has been assured that he will make partner on his anniversary date, so we decided to purchase the house a month ahead of schedule and take advantage of the great mortgage rates.

About a week later...our A/C goes out. I don't want to sound melodramatic - we actually have dual-zone A/C, and a home warranty. So, even though it went out during record heat indexes, not such a huge deal, right? Until the HVAC guy comes and misdiagnosis the problem. He then comes back and the part he needs is literally not available in any state throughout the Midwest. We've now been without our second, large A/C for two weeks. I've been on the phone with the home warranty company at least three times a day. Those calls are followed by calls to the HVAC company. Our smaller A/C cannot keep up with the heat, and now we're worried about putting too much strain on that.

Two days ago, the heat finally broke, so while I haven't been able to cook for a couple of weeks (I don't want to heat the house up too much - it's about 90 degrees in here during the day), we can finally open windows and get it to cool down. Last night, DD comes to find me to tell me that the dog, who has never had an accident, peed in the basement. I go down to investigate and find that I actually have a small flood going on in my basement. DH is of course at work. I have a neighbor come help me get everything cleaned up, carpet pulled back, and wet padding cut out and drug to the curb. Today, a plumber comes out to let me know that the leak was actually caused by me not turning the faucet off completely after filling the kiddie pool.

I am so tired and annoyed! I just want a boring day with no phone calls or service people in my home. Here's hoping that we have A/C by next week!

When I got home from my trip to Dallas I find out that J has realized that the AC vent in our bedroom is leaking. Has he done anything about it? No....

When I got home from my trip to Dallas I find out that J has realized that the AC vent in our bedroom is leaking. Has he done anything about it? No. So today I pulled out the bed and turned in a maintenance form. The maintenance guy comes about an hour later. I have been pretty impressed how fast maintenance gets to things here when its important (when its not, they just never fix it). So he comes in, cleans it all up. While he is there, I figure I will get him on an unimportant thing, because, otherwise it will never get fixed. Our bathroom door is a PITA. It never shuts right. So I show the guy and he brings his electric saw like thing (I do not know those technical terms for tools) and starts shaving down the top of the door. ITS FANTASTIC. The door shuts. THEN as he starts to clean all the shavings with his super duper vacuum thingy the power blows. I had forgotten that I never use the bathroom outlets because my hairdryer blows it every time. So we flip the breaker and it comes back on. Then he uses another outlet... and yes again it blows. Now he is coming back on Monday to work on the breaker... Did I tell you I had to get a whole new toilet a month ago because the handle broke? My complex has got to wonder what I do to shit... or I just have the worst luck ever... Luckily I find this all hilarious. :rofl:I think the maintenance guy thought I was crazy because I was just laughing every time the power went out.

ETA (oh and to add to the adventure the cat HIDES in the bathroom, so I had to keep pulling him out of the bathroom so the guy could do the work and its me chasing the cat around the apt.)

Anyone else ready? I don't care if it is still 100+ degrees outside, come September, I'm putting my fall decorations up and planning October trips to the corn maze.

I've already asked the barista at Starbucks when Pumpkin Spice Lattes are coming back--they said they have the cash register button back, so it will be soon. I'm going to keep bugging them until I get a specific day (it's worked the past 2 years...). Usually the first week of September.

It looks like fall in some places here...it is so dang hot some of the trees are turning brown and losing their leaves! "Texas Autumn." Someday I'll live in a place where the leaves actually change colors and just don't all fall off in late November.

Will anyone be available this weekend? Saturday for dinner? I just got back from the craziest camping trip in the history of Math family camping trips...oh...that's right....this was our FIRST camping trip...but it was crazy...as in....cows blocking the tiny winding roads up the rockies after dark, camping in the mountains in a partially renovated pop-up in a weird cold spell that included freezing rain, winds nearly knocking us over and ultimately...having to pack up in the middle of the night after huddling together under the blankets with our sweatshirts on and trying to use Amanda's blow dryer to warm up the tent! LOL Ahhh...another year, another adventure!
